The Bible is a very powerful tool that God tells us to use in our lives every day.  It is a lamp that lights the way and shows us how to act (Psalm 119:105).  It is food for our souls that makes us strong (I Peter 2:2).  It is a sword that is able to show us right from wrong (Hebrews 4:12).

God wants you to learn His Word so that you have the use of all these tools.  In fact, we are told that if we concentrate on learning the Bible and doing what it says, then God will show us what to do to live a successful Christian life and He will give us the power to do it (Joshua 1:9; Proverbs 3:5-6).

We want to help you do just that.  We want to challenge you to learn just 1-2 verses a week for the next year …  It will change your life!  And it is totally doable … here are some simple suggestions to make it easy:

1. Pick a verse or two from the list below.  The list contains internet links to the verses ... just click on the references.  At the very bottom of the page are buttons to help you access downloadable lists if you want to print off the verse list.  If you have a Bible of your own, then we suggest you find the verses in your Bible and mark them by neatly underlining the words or by using a light colored highlighting marker.

2. Spend just a few minutes every day reading and repeating your verses.  Use even short bits of time at meals, in the car, on walks, or just sitting around to review and repeat.  Some of the best Bible memory time is when you first wake up and right before you go to bed.  Recite your verses to another person.  Do your best to get all the words in the right order.

3. Write it down … research says that writing your verses 1-2 times every day will greatly aid you in long-term memory.  You can use 3x5 index cards that you can then carry with you for quick review when you are on a walk or waiting in a line .  You can also put the cards in strategic places around your house (like over the kitchen sink, by the bathroom mirror, next to your bed, in the car …).

4. Make memorizing fun.  Make it into a game like a puzzle.  Make it into a song.

5. Just do it!! The best time to start is now!

6. Receive the reward! God will richly reward you for memorizing and following His Word! It will change your life …. don’t miss out!  To help you get started memorizing these important Bible verses, we want to offer you some extra incentives from us.  When you memorize all the verses from this list and recite them, then we will send you a frameable certificate and put your photo on the Wall of Character.  We will also send you a new Bible of your very own!

This week's memory verse …

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:

old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
